According to the official announcement of the General Directorate of Migration, they recall the national and foreign population that moves through the land and river borders enabled by Argentina, Brazil and Bolivia, which:
1) All nationals, foreigners residing and foreigners not residing in Paraguay, mayors and minors, must carry out the registration process of entry and exit of the country before the enabled by Migraciones Paraguay, in any place of control located on national borders.
2) The only agency with the power to register and control people’s entry and exit from Paraguay is the General Directorate of Migrations.
3) The registration of entry and exit from the country is a process without cost, which is carried out only and exclusively in the migratory clerks’ windows authorized in the primary areas of the border before duly accredited DGM inspectors.
4) This is a strictly personal and face-to-face procedure. Each person must approach the migratory window with valid travel documents for the corresponding migratory registration and control. Minors of age also must be presented before the migratory authority for the relevant registry and control.
5) The current migratory and sanitary entry and exit requirements of people from Paraguay are available on the official portal.
6) The migratory and sanitary requirements of Argentina, Brazil and Bolivia must be consulted with the official sources as each country establishes its requirements for entering and leaving its territory.
7) The only persons excepted from carrying out the migratory process of registration of entry and exit from Paraguay are understood under the “free transit regime”, in the border cities between Paraguay and Brazil (twin cities), in attention to the agreement of reciprocity with el neighbouring country. However, they will have to carry their current travel documents and submit to the random controls that the migratory authority can carry out at these border crossings.
8) The only infractions to the Migratory Law No. 978/96 that merit a sanction under a fine penalty are committed by foreign citizens in Paraguay in the following cases:
- Upon expiration of the period of stay as a tourist or end of the temporary residence permit.
- For not presenting the proof of entry to the country (migratory stamp on the ticket or the passport) when you exit from the national territory.
9) The fine for foreigners for violation is fixed by law in three daily wages, which currently is equivalent to Gs. 294,267. The same can only be paid in cash, and paid with foreign currency is not accepted. Once you have paid the fine, you must request proof of payment from the immigration inspector in charge.
10) The General Directorate of Migrations cannot sanction citizens of Paraguay with any fine. They must also not pay for any migratory or undergo health procedures.
