I found an affordable Moorish castle in Spain on the Costa Blanca. In fact, the price of this romantic beauty is ridiculously low. You can check it if you roll down, but I suggest to read the information first about this southern Spanish castle.
The castle is in a small, beautiful village built on the “Golden Head” mountain’s foothills. You have the 270-degree view to the sea and the huge mountains around. Moors founded and embellished the village over centuries. Now tomato replaced the huge date palm plantations, but still there are some beautiful palms around. There are also a ruin of a fortress in the village and two castles. One of these is on sale now, but you have to be fast because this is almost the funny price category. The origins of the property are from the 12th century. The blocks of the house developed on the solid rock are made of the so-called “tax bricks”. Moorish families sometimes paid their taxes with handmade bricks. Each family had a different sign, which can be seen on the walls of this castle.
The village is brilliant; there is only natural beauty in all directions (mountains, hills, Alicante, sea). The houses are very tidy and the historical town center very nicely renovated. Everything is fine, which is a respectful achievement from a southern Spanish village.
The smallest floor of the castle is 148 square meters while the garden is slightly more than 3000 square meters of Mediterranean soil (rock and pebbles, perfect for olive, orange, almond, and vineyard).
Also, there is another ruin of Moorish origin on the property, which is the ancient water distribution building of the village. This structure gathered the water from the hillside and distributed among the villagers and the former giant palm plantation. It is an impressive piece of industrial work of art. The house served for agricultural projects, and it has four huge rooms and four other giant places. There are a lot of things to fix, although some fireplaces and beautifully patterned grids retained (ask for the inside photos). The tower is decorated Moorish-fashioned too.
There is a promenade located above the castle, with a catering unit, a favorite of the tourists. The neighborhood is full of tourists, who come in great numbers because of the nearby stalactite caves and hiking trails and because of the sea. Alicante is exactly ten minutes far by car, the beach of Campello (dozens of kilometers long and a hundred meters wide sand) or Cabo Huertas’s (rocky for diving) lagoons are reachable in less than ten minutes. The international airport is also only in 20 minutes driving time.
The property can be:
- Your private castle
- Hotel, motel, B&B
- Restaurant
- Anything else
So, do you want to know the price of this cheap southern Spanish castle?
The price is EUR 140,000.
UPDATE: I wrote this post in 2016!!!
It is not a coincidence that this castle is so cheap, the local people prefer to invest in luxury blockhouses. This property also offers some tax advantages and I gladly send the information for seriously interested clients.
Pls send me more details
