I gathered all official citizenship by investment programs and created a short presentation of the schemes, comparing the necessary lowest costs. The slides do not contain the legal and agency fees, only the basic amount of investment in case of a single applicant. Meanwhile, I continuously update this post with the new locations and prices, the last update happened in September 2016.

The new year started with a new Citizenship by Investment Program of St Lucia. The little Caribbean nation is the fifth of the region which introduced a “CIP”. During the summer of 2016 Bangladesh officially introduced its immigration program for HNWI investors and Vanuatu also relaunched its citizenship through investment scheme.

There are 9 citizenship by investment programs on the market in 2016:

  • St Kitts
  • Dominica
  • Antigua and Barbuda
  • Grenada
  • St Lucia
  • Malta
  • Cyprus
  • Bangladesh
  • Vanuatu

Why is it important to know, which programs are official or not?

More and more agencies and “fixers” are marketing citizenship and passport schemes. The market is fulfilled and it is very important to have the right answers for you questions to be able to choose the appropriate program. Normally, only official agents can assist applicants to obtain the citizenship, but in the case of the new programs, even the marketing tasks can be done only by official “marketing agents”. There are programs, where anyone can act as agent, without necessary permits or licenses.

On the other hand, there are several schemes or programs, which are “almost CIPS”, like the fast-track residency by investment AND citizenship solutions of Bulgaria and Belgium or even the famous scheme of Austria.

Interestingly, after the Caribbean states, two EU member states have joined to the citizenship by investment countries’ list: Malta and Cyprus.
